Brazil Foundation

BrazilFoundation was established in New York as a Public Corporation, a non-profit organization under Section 501© (3) of U.S. Tax Code. In Brazil, the Foundation is registered as Associacao BrazilFoundation, a not-for-profit Public Interest Organization (OSCIP).

BrazilFoundation raises awareness of the initiatives of the Brazilian non-profit organizations. It makes annual discretionary grants in the fields of Education, Health, Human Rights, Citizenship (including local community development) and Culture. Contributions made to BrazilFoundation are deductible to the extent permitted by US Law.

In the United States

With an office in New York and a volunteer base that spans Boston, Los Angeles, South Florida and Washington D.C., BrazilFoundation raises funds in the U.S. for the purpose of sponsoring qualified social investments in Brazil.

In Brazil

With an office in Rio de Janeiro, BrazilFoundation provides support to social projects in Brazil through its programs of Annual Selection, Monitoring and Evaluation, Capacity Building, Projects Bank, and Donor-advised Grants.

The Foundation is governed by two boards: a Board of Directors, which follows closely its operation and development, and an Advisory Board which guides broader initiatives.

What you can do

BrazilFoundation counts on an involved network of partners, donors and volunteers in the U.S. and in Brazil to help carry out its work. Each collaborator is an agent for change who contributes, in his or her own way, to transforming social conditions in Brazil.

You too can contribute to a more just and inclusive Brazil, through BrazilFoundation:

Donate to BrazilFoundation so it can continue expanding its support to effective social initiatives. Your donation is tax deductible in the U.S.

Donate to Brazilian social projects of your choice through the Donor-Advised Program.

Donate to some of the best social initiatives previously supported by the foundation through the Projects Bank.

Become a FRIEND of BrazilFoundation with a minimum annual contribution of US$30 and become part of a network with access to discounts and benefits offered by our Commercial Partners in the U.S.

Work as a volunteer by getting involved in BrazilFoundation’s various activities, such as: fundraising, event planning, the FRIEND of BrazilFoundation campaign, public relations and bilingual communication.

Casa de Cultura Brasileira

The “Casa” is located at 1022 W. Argyle Street, Suite 202 – in the heart of Little Vietnam, and its mission goes beyond that of a language school. We are constantly in touch with Brazilians working with different aspects of Brazilian culture and are scheduling a number of presentations, workshops, lectures and shows on music, dance, culinary, religion and much more.

Casa de Cultura Brasileira first opened its doors in January 2007 and is proud to announce that by the end of that same month we had eight groups, ranging from a beginner course to conversation classes.

Soon Casa will be also an open space for everyone interested in Brazilian culture. There will be a library with books and videos; live Brazilian TV and, of course, “cafezinho” for our visitors and students.

Please join our mailing list so that we can keep you updated on all the activities going on at Casa de Cultura Brasileira.
