For English Speakers

Portuguese I Introduction to Portuguese. The basics of the Portuguese language: Even you have been exposed to Portuguese language before, we strongly recommend this for a solid foundation needed as you continue studying the language.

Portuguese II Once you have had the foundations, it’s time to develop the grammar into more complex structures; expand your vocabulary and practice more conversation.

Portuguese III At this point Portuguese is spoken most the time. With the most used verb tenses covered, the students are prepared to start engaging in conversations with others in the classroom.

Intermediate Portuguese Here the student is prepared to participate in a setting where only Portuguese is spoken in class. The last two tenses from the Indicative are finally covered.

Advanced Portuguese I The Subjunctive (Present and Past) is finally introduced and this is when the students start talking about more complex stories and hypothetical situations.

Advanced Portuguese II With the Future Subjunctive and the compound tenses, the student is now able to talk about not only “what happened” or “will happen”, but also “what would have happened if they had done something differently”.

Bate-Papo (Conversation Class) Practice, expand and solidify what you have learned. Much more than chatting, here the student will be able to fill in the gaps from the previous courses. Every week a different topic is discussed, thus allowing the student to be exposed to different vocabulary and the instructor to see which topics of grammar need to be reviewed/developed.

For Spanish Speakers

Curso Básico de Portugués para Hispanohablantes We are aware how easy it is to read Portuguese and sometimes even understand when people speak it slowly. But things change dramatically when you need to speak it, even when you try so hard to be understood with your Portuñol. You will be surprised to see how much Portuguese is different from Spanish, yet you will be glad you learned it from us.

Curso Intermedio de Portugués para Hispanohablantes After gathering many tips on how to transform your Spanish into Portuguese, you will be ready to learn more vocabulary and grammar. The line that divides both languages becomes clear and Portuñol start to be left behind.

Curso Avanzado de Portugués para Hispanohablantes Now that the students are comfortable with the differences between Spanish and Portuguese, it’s time to learn some complex structures that does not exist in Spanish, such as the Future Subjunctive and the Personal Infinitive. Upon finishing this course the students will be ready to join the Conversation class.
