Advanced Portuguese 2

This is an advanced course designed for students who have a background of Brazilian Portuguese far beyond the intermediate level, having had at least 120 hours of previous instruction, or have com- pleted the Intermediate Portuguese I or Curso Avanzado de Portugués para Hispanohablantes. This class emphasizes oral and written communication skills, and upon completing this class the student will be at an almost fluent conversational level. This class will cover: grammar (pronouns; relative, coordinate, and subordinate conjunctions); verb conjugation (future subjunctive, compound tenses, passive voice, indirect conversation and complex language structures); vocabulary (phrasal verbs, idioms, idiomatic expressions), cultural aspects (use of written Portuguese in literature, newspapers and articles covering different aspects of Brazilian culture). Moreover, conversational structures will be used in the class. THE INSTRUCTOR WILL BE SPEAKING PORTUGUESE THE ENTIRE TIME.

This class runs for 12 weeks, and meets once a week for 2 hours at a time, for a total of 24 hours of instruction. The instructor for this class is a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, who has taught Por- tuguese in various capacities for several years. Upon completion of this course the student is ready to take the Curso de Conversação em Português.
