Portuguese 2

This is a beginning course designed for students with a background in basic Brazilian Portuguese, hav- ing had at least the equivalent of 20 hours of previous instruction, or have completed the Portuguese I course. The class emphasizes oral and written communication skills, and upon completion the student will have acquired solid conversation skills. This class will cover: pronunciation; grammar (pronouns – object and reflexive; indefinite; comparisons; diminutive); verb conjugation (future, participle, imperfect); vocabulary (in addition to a review of basic vocabulary, we will begin to learn some new idioms). Moreover, conversation structures will be used in the class. THE INSTRUCTOR WILL BE SPEAKING PORTUGUESE MOST OF THE TIME.

This class runs for 12 weeks, and meets once a week for 2 hours at a time, for a total of 24 hours of instruction. The instructor for this class is a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, who has taught Por- tuguese in various capacities for several years. Upon completion of this course the student is ready to take Portuguese III.
